All services can be provided at our clinic, in the community and online via telehealth. 

The Ability Collective is a registered NDIS provider and a registered Medicare provider. Services can be claimed through private health insurers, please check with your health insurance provider.

The Ability Collective provide the following services:

Assessment and reports

The Ability Collective offers a range of standardised and informal assessments in the following areas:

  • Speech sounds (articulation)
  • Motor speech 
  • Language skills (expressive and receptive)
  • Metalinguistic/ higher level language skills
  • Pragmatic language skills (social skills)
  • Fluency (stuttering)
  • Literacy
  • Assistive technology
  • Augmentative and alternative communication systems
  • Neurological language skills (for example, aphasia).

Screening assessment services

These are for early education services and primary schools. The Ability Collective completes screening assessments at childcare centres, preschools and primary schools on a regular basis. Screening assessments identify areas of difficulty in a child’s development in the following areas:

  • speech sounds/ articulation (how clear a child speaks)
  • expressive language (words a child uses when they talk and how the child structures their verbal sentences)
  • receptive language (how a child understands what other people say to them including comprehending and following verbal directions)
  • written language 
  • literacy
  • pragmatic language (social skills)

Individual intervention services

The ability collective provided one-on-one intervention services on our clinic or at a location of your choice (travel charges apply). We provide intervention services in the following areas:

  • Speech sounds (articulation)
  • Motor speech 
  • Language skills (expressive and receptive)

  • Pragmatic language skills (social skills)
  • Fluency (stuttering)
  • Literacy
  • Assistive technology

Small group intervention services

The Ability Collective provide small group intervention services during school holidays targeting social skills, school readiness and language skills. School based small groups targeting language and literacy skills are also available.

Alternative and augmentative communication assessments, implementation and support

Assessments for an augmentative and alternative communication system can be provided at The Ability Collective. Communication systems may be low tech ( for example, picture card systems) or high tech (for example, a communication device). Device trials can also be arranged.

Parent information sessions (online)

The Ability Collective provides online parent information sessions once a school term about communication development and support. The sessions provide in depth information about speech and language development in children as well as the best way to support your child in these areas. Professional development for early educators and teachers.

Erin provides professional development opportunities for early educators, classroom teachers and learning support assistants. Erin provides evidence based learning opportunities and practical strategies for supporting childhood development in the following areas:

  • Speech sound development
  • Language development
  • Fluency
  • Phonemic awareness (pre-literacy skills)
  • Literacy and language development 
  • Providing language rich opportunities and environments for early childhood
  • Supporting assistive technology and AAC in the classroom
  • Implementing speech and language screening tools in the early learning  environment (preschool age and early school years)

Home programs

The Ability Collective provide personalised and detailed home programs for all clients upon request. Home programs are a great idea for clients who have difficulty accessing regular intervention appointments or who would like to increase their therapy progress in between their regular Speech Pathology appointments.  

Telehealth services

The Ability Collective can provide all intervention and some assessment services online via telehealth. This option is available for national and international clients. Telehealth is great option for those who live in an area with reduced access to Speech Pathology services.
